How to find a new digital marketing role in 2017

Digital marketing is one of the areas which has grown rapidly over the last few years and as such, it makes a great career choice for those interested in marketing and/or technology. As we are enter a new year, you may be considering your career path in digital marketing and how you can progress to the next level.

The great thing about working in digital marketing is that there are plenty of options to consider.

For example, you may be a Marketing Executive looking to move into a management role, or a copywriter looking to secure a social media management position. Digital marketing roles all work together, so already having experience in one field, can help you move into another or allow you to progress within your current company.

1. Update skills

If you want to move into new digital marketing jobs, you may need to think about updating your current skills first, particularly if it’s a different type of role. There are many ways to do this, including asking your employer to provide you with some training, taking an online course or doing some voluntary work to gain or build on your experience.

2. Re-connect with contacts

At this point, you will already have experience in digital marketing and will have made some contacts during this time. A new digital marketing role could easily result from re-connecting with old contacts and finding out if they know about any relevant opportunities.

3. Attend networking events

It is also important to build new contacts when you are looking for a new digital marketing position. One of the most effective ways to do this is to attend networking events which are relevant to your industry. You can use these to promote yourself and your experience, giving you a better chance of securing a better role in the future. 4. Use a variety of sources

If you want to progress in digital marketing, you need to be prepared to put in some hard work to find marketing jobs, and this means using as many sources as possible to achieve your career goals. This includes registering with industry specific recruitment agencies and making sure you have as many key contacts in the industry as possible!
